So I finally got back to visiting my fledgling blog, and now I've been shamed into adding my second post in as many months by the Effing Librarian, whose pointy comment also disabused me of the notion that I could use the "Royal we" as our personal pronoun of choice. The fact is, I wasn't sure if this was really something I intended to maintain at all...
See, I only even became aware of Blogspot's existence in my MLIS "InfoTech" course, which required that we start our very own blog, so I only whipped together this snazzy setup for a screenshot I could forward to my instructor. I was fairly intrigued by the idea of passing the time at library-work and library-school with my musings on the industry or profession or whatever "we" call it, and spent a good several of those same work/school hours dreaming up posts that would herald the arrival of an engaging new personality on the, hmm, countercultural-library-blogger scene?
... and then the days slipped by, and those daydreams faded, and so here I am a month later, blubbering and trying to explain myself. Can I get away with claiming that my "full-time" MLIS studies have kept me too busy? Nah, didn't think so... Okay, maybe I'm just lazy. Got me there, EL.
But here I am bored in class again, and I think I'll try to keep this up, however sporadically. I've spent a ton of time in every corner of your basic library, whether it's public or academic, as both patron and paycheck-earning-individual, and I've got a few things to get off my chest in an anonymous forum such as this. And pretty soon I'll be a degreed professional in an administrative position with a lot less to do, so I'll have lots of time to kill. See you next month!

A time to blog
Well, we've come up with a catchy name that denotes our place in the library world, selected a template that generically reflects our aesthetic sensibility, arranged a couple doodads on the page to make it look like there's actually something going on here. We've been surfing the webs for tips on starting and maintaining and promoting a blog, and we've got a decade's worth of librarying to weigh in on.
So... now all that's left for us to do is... start blogging?
